Get Gnarls Barkley's new album for free... with a twist.

"The Odd Couple" is out, and available for you to buy on iTunes and whatnot. But you can also get "Elpuoc Ddo Eht" for free here. The catch is, that all the songs, as the title suggests, are played backwards!

EDIT: Upon further inspection, it turns out, that all the songs on the freely available backwards-album are indeed karaoke versions. The main lyrics track is missing, only background vocals and instruments can be heard.

I got a new phone.. or maybe it's a new digital camera, accidentally also being a phone. It's the LG KU990 "Viewty" and it's absolutely great. For me, this one's better than the iPhone. Locations in Google Maps being the hot new thing for iPhone and iPod Touch? Guess what, the Viewty can do exactly the same by triangulating nearby cell towers. The only downside of the phone is the missing WiFi antenna, but it's got HSDPA / UMTS so actually it's fast enough browsing the web (yeah, the browser is pretty decent, too). Although it would have been nice to be able to use the QWERTY-keyboard on every occasion, notes and messages will do. When it comes to pictures and videos it beats iPhone to death. Not only are there two cameras (the one facing the user is primarily for videocalls) there's a full fledged imaging software, where you can change almost everything in a picture you could on a desktop with photoshop or on stand alone still cameras that can't take calls.

downsides: no WiFi, no multi-touch gestures

upsides: 5 megapixel camera, xenon flash, manual focus, locations in maps, videomaker, push eMail, UMTS/HSDPA, memory slot for microSD up to 2MB, it plays DivX videos(!), read PDF-, Office- and plain text documents on the go, it can send pictures directly to this blogger-blog and because I'm with Vodafone, Vf Mobile TV also gets its chance.

Still Alive.

So, now that the holiday season is finally over and the year has turned (2007 yay!), I hope, that I'll have more time on my hands to be able to write here again.

What happened during my little hiatus from blogworld?

Obviously, Christmas Time was upon us once more and the ever reoccurring madness of gift-shopping took hold of the people. I wasn't much of an exception this year, but to my very own surprise, had had all presents more than one day before Christmas Eve. In the preceding years I was known to always get them last minute.


Gathered under the tree were the typical male-tech-geek gifts, like Wii and iPod (Wii for my dad, the latter for myself) and the notorious bling for the lady of the castle. So we're surfing the web with Wiimote (I'll be writing blog entries from the couch as soon as there's a decent keyboard for Wii) and I'm finally getting my media portable on the iPod. Aside the gifts dad made gorgeous meals accompanied by my very own infamous fruit salad.

On 31st my best friend and his fiancé came back from their honeymoon in Malaysia and we had a 3-hour photo-tour after which we got drunk and greeted the new year with ancient music videos on MTV (ancient = from our teenage years). There are definately much less interesting ways to spend the turn of the years.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Even if it's belated, the first week of 2007 isn't over yet, so these best wishes still matter. I hope you all had a very good time, spending the last days of 2006 and an even better slide into 2007!


Tomorrow I'll be leaving the house the first time since New Years Eve. Hope the world hasn't changed that much. By the way, on Dec. 30th I got the chance to watch the newest Bond incarnation "Casino Royale" and I can only tell you, to go and watch it! It definately brings with it a much more realistic and needed perspective on the franchise and it's better than ever, in my opinion. The stunts are somewhat believable this time, so are the missing gadgets. Even the characters behave like human beings when confronted with situations, which they normally wouldn't be drawn into.

Battlestar Galactica will be back Oct. 6th.

It's been a while since we laid down our burdens back in March. The show-runners decided to bridge the countdown to Battlestar Galactica's 3rd season with 10 webisodes, short clips that lead up to the current state of humanity on New Caprica as portrayed in the coming season 3 premiere on October 6th. For a complete listing of the credits of those webisodes, entitled The Resistance, read Ron Moore's blog.


The Story So Far, is a special 44min recap airing on all NBC/Universal stations throughout the weeks, which takes you all the way back to the mini-series and the following two seasons up to the events that stranded the survivors on New Caprica. This recap is narrated by Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell). A short 3minute version of the recap/primer and teasers are available on SciFi.com and it's SciFiPulse videoportal.

"Stars for Free" - Saturday.

I just came back from a very nice (and free) concert. Since 3p.m. the Wuhlheide was crumbling with people, who won their tickets to this all-free concert, initated by a local radio station: 104.6 RTL. For its 10th time(!) the radio station (which turns 15 itself next week) and its sponsors managed to get musicians from the current german single-charts, as well as some all-time favourites and even first-time-ever performed live songs by 80s icon Kim Wilde, who wasn't on stage for 10 years now. Her new album, produced by Nena-producer Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen will be out this September and her current single out of this coming album, is a cover of her own 1988-song "You Came", which she performed on stage as well.

All this was accompanied by a program, in which all the "stars" of the radio station came on stage and did what they do when on the job: they moderated and and had some sponsored prizes to give away.

There were lengths in the program and sometimes it just wasn't "your music" - but it was free and I guess everyone got something to listen to he or she liked. I know I did.

Best act on stage was definately Hermes Houes Band; for being a party-band and with their repertoire of cover songs they rocked the place and everyone was on their feet. Most disturbing were the Gipsy Kings, not that there's anything wrong with their kind fo music, it just didn't fit into the concept. Suffice to say they didn't get much applause. To bad when everything the crowd knows about you is one song (Bamboleo).

Newcomer Marquess is really, really hot and he & his hit-single "El Temperamento" (the music-video of this song will start automatically when you visit his official page) were amongst those who got the crowd going, as well as ex-Blue Simon Webbe, whose current album Sanctuary should be known to anyone.

Kim Wilde sang her last song and left the stage, that then went black just after her exit. At either side of the stage two glowing flames came on and a curtain of sparks laid a glow on the first rows of people gathered in front of the stage. The streams of sparks finally died and then ... the sky exploded with the most beautiful and largest fireworks I have ever seen. They even surpassed those of the grand opening of Berlin Central Station earlier this year (IMO), which of course had a more complex light show going on before the fireworks.

So, Stars for Free 2006 wasn't a perfect match with my taste in music for being called a great show by myself, but I had a good time.

PS. my favourite single (as in: at the moment), the cover of "She's Like The Wind" (yes, the ballad fom Dirty Dancing) by the DJ duo Vibekingz feat. Berlin-based singer Maliq (another hottie) was also performed on stage early on in the show. Listen to the song on Maliq's myspace.

A friend of mine finally convinced me to do this, because my life is oh so interesting. Well, we'll see about that. This first entry is actually worth nothing at all, I just needed to write anything to be able to preview and change my template. So guess what, you just lost 30sec. of your life to no information at all.
